Arklow Gymnastics Club has been training gymnasts for the past 40 years, starting under the umbrella of Arklow Community Games and then as a dedicated gymnastics club since 1998.
In 2012, we moved from our training base in St Mary’s College to our current location in the Knockenrahan Industrial Estate, Arklow. Being a dedicated gymnastics centre, we have been able to increase our classes, introducing more children to the wonderful sport of gymnastics.
At our magnificent training facility we offer a wide variety of gymnastics disciplines to children from 4 years of age up to our senior members, in their 20s.
Our main disciple is Acrobatic Gymnastics. Acrobatic Gymnastics (previously called Sport Acrobatics and nicknamed “Acro“) is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform routines consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music. There are three types of routines; a ‘balance’ routine where the focus is on strength, poise and flexibility; a ‘dynamic’ routine which includes throws, somersaults and catches, and a ‘combined’ routine which includes elements from both balance and dynamic.
Staying true to our roots in Community Games, we always participate in the gymnastics for Community Games and each year are very successful at County level with many of our gymnasts winning their way to the County team for the Community Games National Finals.
